Now we're ready to our project, so first we have to review the main ideas!

Our bodies need energy to work so we need different systems to proceed this energy:

1-  The digestive system: nutrients are the substances which plants and animals need in order to live and grow. The digestive system is the group of organs that extract nutrients from food and expel undigested waste.

-Nose and mouth

-Oesophagus

-Stomach

-Small intestine

-Large intestine

2-  The circulatory system: delivers the blood to the body. The main organ is the heart, that sends oxygen and nutrient rich blood to all our cells.

Blood is made up of:

    -Plasma

    -Red blood cells

    -White blood cells

    -Platelets

The heart is a hollow muscle which pumps blood  through the body. Is made up of four chambers. The top two chambers are called the right and left atria; they receive blood coming into the heart. The bottom part of the heart is made up of the right and left ventricles. The atria and the ventricles are separated by valves

Blood flows around the body in a double circuit.

-Pulmonary circulation. From the heart to the lungs.

-Systemic circulation. From the heart to the rest of the body.

3-  The respiratory system: our cells need oxygen to combine with nutrients and to produce energy. During this process, the cells produce carbon dioxide that has to be expelled from the body.

-  Nose and mouth

-  Trachea

-  Bronchi

-  Bronchioles

-  Alveoli

-  Capillaries

4-  The excretory system eliminates waste product from our body (carbon dioxide, urine and water).

The excretory system consists of:

-The urinary system is made up of: renal arteries, kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra.

-The sweat glands eliminate waste products through the skin (porus).
